Blender is a free and open source 3D animation suite. It supports the entirety of the 3D pipeline—modeling, rigging, animation, simulation, rendering, compositing and motion tracking, even video editing and game creation.
Watch this tutorial if you need more help to downloading and installing the software.
The modeling tutorial shows you how to use the model and object tools, the difference between object and edit modes, how to work with different mesh selection and editing tools, and how to use modifiers on mesh objects.
Blender does allow for animation. The tutorial shows the bare bones on how to make your object move.
