In collaboration with RJG Inc. and the Professional Learning Community dedicated to 3D printing, 3D printers have been donated to Traverse City West Senior High School, Traverse City Central Senior High School, TBAISD Manufacturing Technology Academy, REMC 2, Traverse City East Middle School, Traverse City West Middle School, Traverse City Eastern Elementary, Cherry Knoll Elementary, and Silver Lake Elementary, with the aim to increase S.T.E.M. (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) opportunities, enthusiasm, and creativity in students within the TBAISD.
RJG, Inc., the fiduciary of the MakerBot Replicator 2X Experimental 3D printers and Ultimaker 2 printers, became interested in the project when their high school interns from the Manufacturing Technology Academy, a manufacturing and engineering program offered through the TBAISD Career-Tech Center, showed solid modeling skills which they learned working with their in-class 3D printer. RJG, Inc. wanted to expand this opportunity to schools within Traverse City Area Public Schools.
The 3D Printing PLC is a mix of educators, professionals, and students within the Traverse City Area that gather to share the knowledge that they have gained about 3D printing. We work towards teaching students hands-on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (S.T.E.M.) through 3D Printing.
